Like many of us, I have the tendency to get stuck, working with my head down at a million miles an hour popping up every once in a while to breathe. If I am really lucky, this breath ends up being longer than a fleeting moment and I can actually take the time to reflect on what it is that I am "working on". In those moments I ask myself things like:
Am I having fun?
Is what I do making a difference?
Am I adding value for my clients, family and society?
Am I fulfilled?
Fortunately for me, I love what I do. For me it is not work, it is merely an extension of who I am and of what I believe, what I value. I feel sorry for those who dread going to work and count down the clock until the weekend. Our society would certainly be much happier and fulfilled if more people moved towards doing the things that they loved and what came naturally to them. When I discuss this with people, a common response that I hear is "I can not afford to quit my job to do XXXXX (the thing they love)".
Really? So they are willing to trade their happiness for a paycheck?
I am fortunate to have met and be surrounded by so many amazing people who have taken a leap of faith and believed in themselves and their passions enough to do what they love, be it art, photography, design, cooking, blogging, publishing, writing books....
Do what you love and the money will follow. It is really true. Give it a try!
